Safety At The Pool

FLOATATION DEVICES: The only type of flotation device that is allow at the pool is a Coast Guard Certified Life Jacket. These have a stamped approval and weight limit inside each jacket and all have a strap that go through the legs as well for safety.
SWIM DIAPERS: Regardless of age, children who are not completely potty trained may not be in any of Ridgewood’s four pools without wearing a swim diaper – no exceptions. Please be considerate of other members and make sure your kids are in swim diapers if there is any doubt. To aid in this, we will make sure swim diapers are available for purchase at the Front Desk.

Membership Drive

Our 2010 New Member Recruitment Program (reduced Summer Non-Stock Membership fee, Member Referral Rebate and Neighborhood Canvass) proved a resounding success – despite the economy. We added several new families, and are now recruiting them to become stock-holding members. While very encouraging, work remains to rebuild our membership back toward capacity, stabilize our long-term finances and give us financial flexibility to investigate some new membership options many of our long-time members have been asking about. So we will continue all three recruitment programs in 2013.

In an effort to increase our membership base we have reduced the Summer Non-Stock Membership fee to $395 for our first time families, this also includes team fees! In addition, if a 2013 Summer Non-Stock member buys stock and becomes a regular member in 2014, they receive a $200 credit towards their 2014 summer dues.

Annual Membership Meeting – UPDATED DATE

This year, our Annual Membership Meeting will be held at the Babes Bar and Grill on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 6:30 pm. All members are encouraged to attend and learn about the upcoming season. This is an opportunity to meet Board Members, ask questions and discuss ideas to keep our pool vital.
We continue to offer the installment plan for the purchase of Ridgewood stock. Buyers are required to pay $200 per year for three consecutive years for a total payment of $600. All payments must be made within the 3-year period, regardless of summer membership, and are nonrefundable. Contact Becky Jenn at the Membership line (608.609.6321) for more details.

Volunteers

Part of our strict budget management has meant depending on volunteers to do many tasks that were once performed by our paid staff. While we are heading the right direction again, we still need your help. In past years the bulk of our volunteer help has come from a small number of very dedicated individuals who have contributed extraordinary amounts of time and energy. We cannot continue to depend on this small group. As we did last year, our Volunteer Requirement asks every member to sign up for a minimum of one 2 hour time slot to volunteer at the pool. Times available include pool and grounds preparation for opening, social event volunteers, Neighborhood Canvassing, regular maintenance of pool grounds, and end of season closing tasks. If you do not volunteer, you are required to pay a Volunteer Buy-Out Fee of $50, so we may defer the cost of hiring out various jobs. We would prefer your help to your $50 – please volunteer! (This Volunteer Requirement is independent of the Swim & Dive Team volunteer requirements.)

Online registration for general membership and swim & dive team work requirements will be active on March 26, 2013. Early signup will be available in-person only at the annual Membership Meeting at Babe’s Bar and Grill on March 19, 2013 at 6:30. As a reminder, each family is required to complete 2 general membership work shifts. Swim & Dive team families are also required to complete an additional 3 home meet shifts.
