RIDGEWOOD POOL:  The first 60 years...

Our beloved Ridgewood Pool was built in 1958, a dream realized by the hard work and commitment of a community who wanted a place to come together during precious Wisconsin summers, a place where their children could learn the life skill of swimming, a place they could enjoy for generations.

THE NEXT 60 YEARS...

The founding members of Ridgewood Pool achieved all they set out to do and more.  All the original pool structures are still in place, plus more improvements that were added over the years to constitute the facility we use today.  Those original structures had a life expectancy of 30-40 years, and are still the foundational elements used daily all summer, now 60 years old.  While the quality construction has surpassed its life expectancy, it has undeniably been showing its age.  The time has come to focus on creating Ridgewood Pool's legacy for the NEXT 60 years.

The Ridgewood Pool Board of Directors has worked over the past year with Todd Barnett of Barnett Architecture LLC to develop preliminary plans for a renovated facility to feature an expanded lower pool, a redesigned wading pool and dive well (retaining the cherished high dive!), and a new bath/shower facility.  The current cost estimate is $4.2M.  Over the summer of 2016, a small group of dedicated member volunteers assembled as a fundraising committee to guide the efforts to raise the funds for this ambitious project.  By the end of the summer, 70 more volunteers stepped up through our Member Survey to support their mission.  Once again, the Ridgewood Community is coming together to champion efforts to ensure that the facility which so many families and neighbors have enjoyed for over 50 years will continue to be a gathering place for generations to come.

We will be posting updates here regarding our quest as they become available.  If you would like to contribute your time/talent and put your stamp on Ridgewood's legacy for the future, please contact Kathy Bissen, Ed Nebbins Foundation Board Vice-President/Secretary at info@EdNebbinsFoundation.org to let us know how you might be able to help.  It will take the contributions of many to make this a reality; let's make our founding members proud!  RIDGEWOOD NATION STRONG!

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the pool’s current structure, and hear why it is such an important place for so many families.
