Families with one or more swimmers new to Ridgewood's Swim Team may stop by anytime from 4-6pm (which runs in conjunction with our Lessons Signup from 5-7:30pm) for a brief skills assessment of the prerequisite skills listed above. Coaches will let you know if your swimmer is ready for participation on Swim Team, or if they may benefit from at least one more session of lessons first, plus answer any questions you may have. Swimmers can join the team any time during the first month of the season once they have met the above requirements.
Swimmers/Divers may participate in as many or as few meets over the season as they would like, but must participate in at least three regular meets in order to qualify to participate in the end of season All-City Swim and Dive Meets.

Swim & Dive Team Suit FittingYou are invited to the Ridgewood Swim & Dive Team suit fitting held at Simply Swimming (6649 University Ave. Middleton) on Monday, April 19th, 2021 from 11am-6pm. You may order your child’s team suit*, and shop for goggles and caps. Please reserve your fitting time below, and note the protocols to follow.
If you are/were unable to come to the Suit Fitting, you can stop by Simply Swimming any other time during their normal business hours. However, because of manufacturer limitations on the number of suits made, the sooner you purchase your suit the better. *Team suit purchase is not required for participation on swim/dive team. |
Suit fitting protocols for 2021Before we get together we wanted to go over a few protocols that will take place this year for our fittings. First things first we want to make sure we are doing our part to ensure everyone’s safety as well as follow recommended CDC guidelines.
1. We will have a hand sanitization station for all swimmers to use before AND after they try on the team suit. 2. Anyone present at the fitting must be wearing a mask. 3. To limit the amount of people trying on goggles, we are asking that you bring or have knowledge of your swimmers current goggle. We are more than happy to fit you for new goggles if needed and are prepared to take the proper steps to clean the goggles in between each fitting. We will have our sample fit goggles with us however we are just asking to eliminate as much contact as possible. 4. Please have your swimmer wear their practice suit to the fitting or bring it with so we can see what size they are currently wearing to give us a more accurate idea at what suit size we should be fitting them in. 5. Please come at your scheduled fitting time to eliminate large rushes or crowds. We will have enough staff to accommodate the amount of people who have signed up so in order to ensure timely fittings and proper safety we ask that you are there for your scheduled time. |
Ridgewood hosts 3 home swim meets and 3 home dive meets this season. Parents of all swim team members are required to work in some capacity for at least 3 half-meet sessions, or pay a buy-out fee of $150. Dive Team families must work at a minimum of one dive meet. These requirements are separate; if your child participates in both teams, you are asked to fulfill both requirements. There are a variety of job opportunities, but each meet requires many workers – we’d much rather have your help than your money! Sign-up will be available on our Volunteering page soon!
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT TECH SUITS
Some of you may be aware of a USA Swimming rule change which was passed in Fall 2018, banning tech suits for 12 & under swimmers beginning Sept. 1, 2020. Tech suits are made from water repellent materials and compress the body to make the swimmer more hydrodynamic. These suits can cost several hundred dollars.
The All-City Board, which oversees the rules used in the All-City Pool League, voted in November, 2018 to phase in this ban over the next two years. By summer 2019, tech suits will not be allowed for 8 & under swimmers. The following summer (2020), tech suits will not be allowed for 10 & under swimmers. By the summer of 2021, the All-City rule will match to USA Swimming rule (no tech suits for 12 & under swimmers).
