VOLUNTEER

MEMBER SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:

VERY IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Ridgewood Pool is a non-profit member organization. In order to ensure the continued success of the pool (and avoid increasing membership fees), members are asked to volunteer services to help defray the cost of hiring out various jobs. Without this volunteer service, we would be unable to keep your pool beautiful and clean throughout the summer. In addition, we would be unable to maintain the events and experiences that make being member of Ridgewood Pool special.

General Pool Member Service Requirement – For All Family and Adult-Only Memberships (except Senior Memberships)
Each family and adult-only membership is required to fulfill one shift (approximately 2 hours) minimum of volunteer time for Ridgewood Pool, OR bring food for a minimum of two Sunday brunches during the season. This shift could include, but is not limited to, Pool Clean-Up days, Pool Carnival, Ice Cream Social, Adult Night, etc. This includes all summer non-stock trial memberships. Senior Members are exempt from this requirement, but are welcome to volunteer as desired.  These volunteer opportunities will be available for sign-up below. Please be aware that these shifts are tracked, and your family will be assessed a $75 fee if you are unable to fulfill the season’s service requirement. If an activity is not listed on SignUp.com, it is not tracked and will not fulfill your family’s requirement, unless you contact the Volunteer Coordinator or a Ridgewood Pool Board member prior to the activity.   If you have any questions whether an activity or donation will satisfy your service requirement, please contact a Board member.

Swim Team Service Requirement – An Additional Requirement for All Swim and Dive Team Families
It takes a large number of people to run an effective and efficient meet, and Ridgewood has always had some of the best-run meets in the city. We certainly couldn’t do it without the help of our wonderful swim and dive team families. If your child participates in Swim or Dive Team, your family will also be required to volunteer at meets.  Swim/Dive service shifts do not fulfill your General Membership requirement, and General Membership service does not fulfill the Swim/Dive requirement. Swim Team asks three shifts per family over the season, or a payment of $150; this fee is prorated if you complete just one shift. Dive team requires one shift per season.

If you are unable to fulfill your volunteer service requirements, you will be assessed a $75 fee for general service requirements, and/or a $150 fee for Swim Team service requirements. The fees for not completing these requirements are invoiced after the season is completed, and must be paid prior to or concurrent with the next season’s registration.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact a Ridgewood Pool Board member.  Our intent is not to be punitive, but to control costs and keep Ridgewood Pool a wonderful place to be. Please pitch in — there are plenty of opportunities, and it’s a great way to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.

Building and Grounds

Most help is needed with pre-season work to get the pool ready to open and post-season work to close it for the year.  Basic activities like raking and cleaning are needed as well as more skilled help such as pool repairs and painting.
